BIOGRAPHY
Līga Griķe (1997) is a concertkokle player from Latvia. She has set as her goal the promotion of concertkokle as a solo instrument in the academic music environment, whilst bringing awareness to music as a universal, emotional experience regardless of the instrument or genre of music.
In recent years Līga has been awarded the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian music academy prize “Young musician of the year 2016” and has been nominated for the Latvian Grand Music Award in the category "Young Artist’’ in 2022.
She has performed with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, State Chamber Orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga, Professional Wind Orchestra "Riga", the Symphony Orchestra of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and other orchestras and ensembles in Latvia.
Līga has participated in countless international competitions, concerts and festivals as a soloist, a member of a kokle ensemble, as well as a chamber musician in Europe and the USA. She has performed in such world renowned venues as Royal Albert Hall in London, the Baruch Performing Arts Center in New York, Mozarthaus in Vienna and elsewhere.
