BIOGRAPHY

Līga Griķe is a concertkokle player from Riga, Latvia. Born in 1997, she started her music studies at age 6 in Pāvuls Jurjāns music school.

Līga gained her masters degree from Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music in 2021 under lecturer Anda Eglīte and has broadend her knowledge during studies in Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe, Germany) and LUCA school of arts (Leuven, Belgium) with Maria Stange, Agnes Clement and Emma Wauters.

She has participated in countless international competitions, concerts and festivals as a soloist, a member of a kokle ensemble, as well as a chamber musician in Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Slovakia, England, USA, Belgium, the Netherlands, etc.

Her most recent chamber music collaborations are TRIO TRESENSUS (Kokle, Saxophone, Percussion), kokle ensamble CANTATA, and DUO LINGA (Kokle and Clarinet).


She has performed at the Royal Alberthall in London, the Baruch Performing Arts Center in New York, Mozarthaus Vienna and elsewhere.

She has performed with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, State orchestra "Sinfonietta Rīga", Professional Wind Orchestra "Riga", Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra and other well-known orchestras and ensembles in Latvia.

In 2017, Līga won the JVLMA Award for Young Musician of the Year. In 2022 she has been nominated for the Grand Music Award in the category "Young Artist".
